Independent voters in the Fox News Digital focus group appeared to overwhelmingly approve of former President Trump’s answer to a question about his “retribution” – and his description of President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, as “a convicted felon” – during the Thursday night’s CNN presidential debate.
“My reward will be success,” Trump said. “But when [President Biden] talks about a convicted felon: his son is a convicted felon. At a very high level, your son is convicted, he will probably be convicted many other times, he should have been convicted before.”
Democrats’ approvals trended downward during the response. Meanwhile, Republican approval continued to rise throughout Trump’s comments.

“As soon as he leaves office, Joe could be a convicted felon for all the things he’s done,” Trump said.
Then he added: “This man is a criminal. This man, he’s lucky, he’s lucky. I’ve done nothing wrong. We have a rigged, disgusting system.”
Meanwhile, Biden responded, saying the idea that he committed any crime is “outrageous.”

“It’s just a lie,” Biden said. “Second, the idea that one has the right to seek revenge against any American just because he is president is wrong. No president has spoken like this before. No president in our history has spoken like this before.”
Democratic approval ratings rose during Biden’s remarks, but approval among independents and Republican voters trended downward.
