A Venezuelan illegal immigrant accused of a series of crimes was released multiple times by Virginia authorities despite requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to transfer him into their custody, the agency said.
ICE announced the arrest of Yohandri Roger Mosquera-Rosas, 30, on charges of malicious wounding, driving while intoxicated, hit and run and a series of firearms offenses. He was arrested by the ICE Special Response Team in Springfield, Virginia, on September 12.
Mosquera was released into the United States by border officials in October 2022. He was granted parole into the United States but violated the terms of his admission, the agency said.

He was arrested by Fairfax County Police in January 2023 and charged with malicious wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, leaving a loaded firearm, endangering a child under 14, and using a firearm. in commission of a serious crime.

The announcement comes just as ICE revealed the number of illegal immigrants with criminal convictions who are in the agency’s non-detainee file.
