Donald Trump is wasting no time getting back on the campaign trail now that the verdict is out and his historic criminal trial in New York City is over.
The former president and presumptive Republican presidential candidate headlined a campaign fundraiser just a couple of hours after being convicted. On Saturday he will attend a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fight in Newark, New Jersey, Fox News confirmed. And on Sunday he will attend a “Fox and Friends” interview.
“We will fight hard,” Trump told Fox News’ Brooke Singman in an interview shortly after being found guilty of all 34 felony counts in his case, the first in which a former or current president was tried.
Trump emphasized that he was excited to get back on the campaign trail.
CONFRESHMENT 2024: TRUMP TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE CONVICTION IN HIS CRIMINAL TRIAL
On Friday, while addressing reporters from the atrium of his Trump Tower in New York City, where he launched his first bid for the White House nine years ago, the former president vowed that “we’re going to fight.”
For six weeks, Trump was confined to the courtroom in Lower Manhattan, preventing him from campaigning nationwide except on weekends and Wednesdays, when there was no trial.
But Trump’s campaign touted that even during the duration of the trial, the candidate was able to generate “billions of dollars” in media coverage, as well as organize rallies and fundraisers.
HOW TRUMP’S GUILTY VERDICTS COULD IMPACT THE 2024 REMATCH WITH BIDEN
The former president’s tenure on the court also did not appear to make a dent in the slight poll lead he enjoys over President Biden in the key battleground states that will likely decide the outcome of their rematch.
And the former president’s top pollsters released a memo on the eve of the verdict arguing that a conviction would have no electoral consequences.
“We’re back on mission,” the Trump campaign told Fox News Digital on Thursday night. “President Trump will not let this charade stop the movement of this campaign to save the nation.”
Veteran Republican strategist David Carney, a veteran of multiple Republican presidential campaigns who now runs a pro-Trump super PAC, told Fox News that “the show trial is over and Trump is freed to campaign as he pleases again. With the mistake judicial outside in the open air, you will have the wind in your favor.”
Trump enjoyed an initial fundraising burst thanks to his guilty verdicts.
The former president’s campaign announced Friday morning that it had raised $34.8 million in fundraising from 6 p.m. ET to midnight Thursday, immediately after the verdict went viral.
On Friday night, the campaign updated its fundraising total: nearly $53 million in 24 hours.
WHAT TRUMP TOLD FOX NEWS DIGITAL AFTER THE VERDICT
The campaign noted in a statement that they had achieved “a record small-dollar fundraiser and said it was “nearly double the largest day ever recorded for the Trump campaign on the WinRed platform.” They emphasized that the verdicts of guilt “have awakened the MAGA Movement like never before.”
Trump will continue his fundraising campaign with a visit late next week in California.
The former president heads to the blue bastion of San Francisco on June 6 for a fundraising dinner hosted by tech investors David Sacks and Chamath Palihapitiya, two of Silicon Valley’s heavyweights and co-hosts of the popular podcast “All- In”.
Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, a Trump ally and possible 2024 running mate who spent time a few years ago in San Francisco working for hedge funds in the tech sector, was instrumental in raising the biggest haul. of funds in dollars.
