Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized speakers at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) two days after her speech there in Chicago.
Ocasio-Cortez urged the Democratic Party to change course in its response to the conflict between Israel and Hamas as rioters continue to gather outside its convention.
The Democratic representative from New York is urging her party to “center” Palestinians at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, in an effort to affirm the “shared humanity” between both sides of the ongoing conflict.
“Just as we must honor the humanity of [Israelis taken hostage]”We must also focus on the humanity of the 40,000 Palestinians killed under Israeli bombing,” Ocasio-Cortez said via social media on Wednesday. “To deny that history is to participate in the dehumanization of Palestinians.”

“He [Democratic Party] We must change course and affirm our shared humanity,” he added.
Ocasio-Cortez made the comment in response to author Ta-Nehisi Coates’ observation that no Palestinian Americans were expected to address the convention.
The Biden administration and the broader Democratic Party have gone out of their way to ignore a growing left-wing contingent dissatisfied and often outraged with the country’s continued support for Israel in its war against Hamas following the Oct. 7 attacks.

Thousands of protesters descended on Chicago this week to protest the Biden administration’s handling of the Middle East war and its support for Israel following Hamas’ attack on the nation last year.
Anti-Israel protests continued for a third consecutive night as the Democratic National Convention took place just a few miles away at the United Center.
Protesters, many of them wearing keffiyehs, gathered in significantly larger numbers than on Tuesday, marching down Maypole Avenue alongside 578 Park waving flags and banners, including a huge one that read: “Biden, Harris, you’ll see! Palestine will be free!” along with “End America.” “Help Israel” and “Stop the genocide.”

Chicago police confirmed Wednesday that 56 protesters were arrested the day before after violent clashes with the policeThe confrontation occurred outside a building housing the Israeli Consulate, about two miles from the United Center.
Chicago police said one person was charged with a felony for resisting an officer. Nine other people were charged with misdemeanors, including disorderly conduct, resisting a police officer, battery, assault and property damage, police said.
Thirty of the people arrested by police received summonses for disturbing the peace.
