Eminem is back, but the real Slim Shady may not last much longer.
On Thursday night, the Grammy Award-winning rapper announced the release of his upcoming album titled The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).
The album, which is Eminem’s twelfth, will be released this summer.
Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers), 51, announced the release with a funny video advertising a fake true crime show about the death of Slim Shady, Eminem’s longtime rap alter ego.
“Through his complex and often criticized, twisted rhymes, the antihero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” narrates a crime reporter for the non-existent Detroit Murder Files.
Rapper 50 Cent appears in the video and says that Slim Shady “is not a friend. He is a psychopath.”
The reporter then tells the camera that Slim Shady’s “rude lyrics and controversial antics” may have led to his demise. At the end of the video, Eminem reveals himself behind a censor that blurs his face and says: “I knew it was just a matter of time for Slim.”
